Western Uni.FC Face Reigning Champions Svay Rieng

Western Uni. FC will be looking to turn their recent dwindling form as the confront the reigning MCL Champions Svay Rieng FC on Wednesday. The match which was originally scheduled for the opening fixture of the 2014 was postponed due to Svay Rieng's trip to Thailand for an invitational Friendly.

The Champions despite not yet at their very best are sitting 4th on the table with 3 wins, 2 draws and one lose. In contracts the New entrants to the League Western have seen their good start cut short with 3 consecutive loses to sit 10th on the table with 1 win, 2 draws.

Western will have to remain focused and maintain their discipline should they expect to get anything out of this tie. The University backed team has been playing some good football since the start of the season but On and off the field indiscipline has cost them valuable points.

Coach Meas Samouern has continue to tinker with his side formation and in the lose against Albirex on Sunday, club top striker David Njoku started out from the defensive midfield position while Privat Mbarga was moved forward. The tactic worked as Privat found himself in numerous scoring positions only for the Cameroonian to fluff all the chances. It was David's free kick that led to the goal in which Ouen Kosal got to the end of it..

Injury blow to Prom Yaneath has limited Coach Meas Samouern's attacking option and the former BBU coach would need to reshuffle his side to curtain Svay Rieng Fluid play in the midfield.

"We have some problems with our players fitness, Some of them were involved in the Tiger Street football and returned with injuries which they concealed to play against Albirex" Says an obviously angry Coach Samoeurn "We will have to rearrange our team play and see what happens against Svay Rieng, I know they are a good side but if we keep our shape and discipline on the pitch we can shock them" he opined.

Manager Sothea Lay also admitted that his side's short coming has been as a result of lack of tactical discipline especially in the dying minutes, and would be looking to correct that when they take on the champions. "We have created good chances to win games but simply couldn't convert them, in the end our tactical approach to the game has let us down especially with few minutes to go" he said.

Kick off is at 3:30 pm at the Olympic Stadium.
