Western Earn Valuable point off Champions Svay Rieng.

Western Uni.FC bounced back from their fluttering defeat to Albirex on Sunday to hold the reigning Champions to a 0-0 draw in the reschedulled midweek MCL Match at the National stadium on Wednesday..
Svay Rieng were on top for most part of the match and came close to scoring on two occasions but the upright stood between them and the goal as Western struggled to curtain the physical strength of the 2013 MCL Champions.

Privat Mbarga's defence-splitting pass then allowed Ouen Kosal to run behind Svay Rieng Defence to chip the ball over the un rushing goalkeeper but his effort was ruled out for offside in the 30th minute. That was the best chance Western Uni.FC had to come close to scoring.
David Njoku's effort was saved as Western Occasionally try to catch Svay Rieng on the break in the second half.

Coach Meas Samouern's Side withstood late pressure as Svay Rieng continue to push forward in search of the elusive goal. Western who has suffered 3 consecutive defeats and languishing in 10th place showed some great defensive solidity as Isaac Kolawole and Krouch Mol combined well in the center back position to wade off Svay Rieng's Attacks.
The Draw came as a big boost to the side whose poor financial standing has seen them with limited options in attack, despite playing some great football has failed to find score often leading to shocking defeats
However, they will need to show the intensity that was in evidence towards the end of this tempestuous encounter and avoid the slow start that allowed Svay Rieng to establish themselves in the second half when they meet Tri Asia this weekend.
"It is not a bad result, we came here to do better and try to put behind us the shocking defeat to Albirex and the players responded well'" says coach Meas Samouern
"We hope that this result could galvanize the team as we look ahead to more tougher games coming" he added
